WOLVES OPEN 17TH SEASON ON OCT. 8

 

Chicago Wolves
 
The Chicago Wolves will open the 2010-11 season against the San Antonio Rampage at the AT&T Center on Fri., Oct. 8, at 7:00 p.m.
 
Chicago’s 17th home opener, presented by LifeSource, will be an Amtrak Rivalry game against the Milwaukee Admirals at the Allstate Arena on Sat., Oct. 16, at 7 p.m.
 
The team will play 27 of 40 home games on the weekend, which includes 14 Saturday matchups and nine Sunday matinees. 
 
The Wolves will battle one new opponent this season: the Oklahoma City Barons. The schedule also is highlighted by three morning games, including the Wolves second annual school-day game, which will take place when the Texas Stars visit the Allstate Arena on Wed., Jan. 12, at 11 a.m.

The Chicago Wolves Sign Davies

The Chicago Wolves have signed forward MICHAEL DAVIES.

DAVIES set a career-high and shared sixth in the NCAA with 52 points (20G, 32A) in 41 games as a senior with the University of Wisconsin (WCHA) last season. He ranked second on the Badgers with a career-best 20 goals and third with a career-most 32 assists. The 23-year-old also made his professional debut in three Calder Cup playoff games with the American Hockey League’s Bridgeport Sound Tigers after Wisconsin was defeated in the 2010 NCAA National Championship game.

The Chesterfield, Mo., native shared seventh on Wisconsin with 23 points (10G, 13A) in 34 outings as a junior in 2008-09. Overall, he amassed 54 goals, 69 assists, 123 points and 122 penalty minutes in 155 games with the Badgers, spanning four seasons (2006-10).

Wolves Sign Dave Phillips

The Chicago Wolves have signed defenseman Dave Phillips.

The 22-year-old defenseman made his North American hockey debut last season, when he appeared in 52 games with American Hockey League’s Rockford IceHogs, notching six assists and 52 penalty minutes.  He also competed in six ECHL outings with the Toledo Walleye, tallying two points (G, A) and two penalty minutes.

Wolves Resign Galivan and Hunt

The Chicago Wolves have re-signed Oak Park native PATRICK GALIVAN and forward JAMIE HUNT.

GALIVAN made his professional debut in 19 games with the Wolves last season, recording two goals, six points and a +2 plus/minus rating. The 24-year-old left wing also skated in 46 ECHL contests with the Gwinnett Gladiators during his rookie campaign and ranked second on the team with 20 goals and fifth with 42 points.

Prior to turning pro, the Oak Park River Forest High School graduate completed a four-year career at Western Michigan University (CCHA), which includes leading the team with a career- high 19 goals, 28 assists and 47 points in 41 outings as a senior in 2008-09.

Overall, GALIVAN registered 35 goals, 60 assists, 95 points and 112 penalty minutes in 122 career games with Western Michigan, spanning four seasons (2005 to 2009).
