1. Texas. The Longhorns are really starting to play prime football and have been very consistent and that is why they are holding the top spot.

2. Florida. The Gators had a really nice win against Georgia, but I still want to see if this team

has what it takes to win like that week in and week out.

3. Alabama. The Tide had the week off and I’m sure they have been thinking about their upcoming matchup with LSU after almost losing against Tennessee the week prior.

4. Cincinnati. Freshman quarterback Zach Collaros has looked very good in Tony Pike’s absence and needs to continue to play well to keep the Bearcats in the BCS race.

5. TCU. This team looks outstanding especially on defense. They have been shutting down their opponents all year and looked poised to make a title run.

6. Iowa. The Hawkeyes played really ugly against Indiana, but they still came up with the win. They can’t be doing this week in and week out if they expect to remain undefeated.

7. Oregon. The Ducks steam-rolled past USC and are in great position to win the PAC 10 and break the Trojans streak of seven straight conference titles. They might just be the hottest team in the country right now.

8. Boise St. The only reason I’m putting this team behind Oregon is because I believe at this point and time the Ducks would beat them. They still need to continue to smash their opponents to get a look for a major BCS game.

9. Georgia Tech. The Yellow Jackets looked almost as if they were going to lose against Vanderbilt, until they lit the fire to close out the game. This team can put up points fast.

10. LSU. The Tigers had a tune-up game against Tulane and now they go to Alabama. This team can make a huge statement if they can beat the Tide this weekend.

11. Penn St. The Nittany Lions are still in good position to win the Big 10, they just need Iowa to lose and win the rest of their games, but it won’t be easy because they still have to get through Ohio St. this weekend.

12. Pittsburgh. After having a bye week the Panthers move up because every one ahead of them lost last week.

13. USC. It’s going to be weird to see the Trojans not win the PAC 10 after they have taken the title for the last seven years, but they still have a lot of young talent that will go a long way in the future.

14. Houston. This team reminds me of the Phoenix Suns of college football. They can put up points like a video game, but they give up a lot of points as well. They need to adjust their defense if they want to get into the top ten.

15. Ohio St. Even with the loss against Purdue, the Buckyes still control their own destiny in the Big 10 as they still have matchups against Penn St. and Iowa.

16. Utah. The Utes still continue to win and are now 7-1 and still have a matchup with TCU that could determine the Mountain West title.

17. Miami. The Hurricanes remain static this week after beating Wake Forest by only one point.

18. Arizona. The Wildcats are playing very good football as they have made their way into the top 25. Teams in the PAC 10 better beware on not sleep on this team.

19. Oklahoma. The Sooners won this weekend against Kansas St., but to be honest this game should have been a blow out and it wasn’t. Oklahoma needs to step their game up.

20. Wisconsin. The Badgers looked very good this past weekend shutting down Purdue 37-0. They should easily be able to take care of Indiana on Saturday.

21. Oklahoma St. The Cowboys lost their biggest game of the year very badly last week. The good news for them is that they should be able to rebound against Iowa St.

22. Notre Dame. The Irish stomped all over Washington St. and now have a matchup with Navy. Let’s see if their defense will be able to contain the triple option.

23. Clemson. The Tigers are sitting at 5-3 after a win against Coastal Carolina. On paper, they should beat Florida St. this weekend, but the way that team plays, who knows?

24. Virginia Tech. After being stunned by North Carolina last Thursday, the Hokies have another Thursday night game against East Carolina. If the Hokies don’t win this game, they are going to be in major trouble.

25. Cal. After two losses to USC and Oregon, many people wrote the Bears off, but they are currently sitting at 6-2 and have a good chance at winning their remaining four games.
