Urban Meyer announced he will step down at Florida.
Urban Meyer will step down at Florida because of health concerns.

OFFICIAL PRESS RELEASE

Gainesville, Fla.- Urban Meyer is stepping down as head coach of the University of Florida football team, Athletics Director Jeremy Foley announced Saturday afternoon.

“I have given my heart and soul to coaching college football and mentoring young men for the last 24-plus years and I have dedicated most of my waking moments the last five years to the Gator football program,” said Meyer. “I have ignored my health for years, but recent developments have forced me to re-evaluate my priorities of faith and family.” “After consulting with my family, Dr. Machen, Jeremy Foley and my doctors, I believe it is in my best interest to step aside and focus on my health and family.

“I’m proud to be a part of the Gainesville community and the Gator Nation and I plan to remain in Gainesville and involved with the University of Florida. “I’m very appreciative for the opportunity I’ve had to be a part of a tremendous institution – from Dr. Machen to Jeremy Foley and the entire administrative staff at UF. I’m also very thankful for the chance to work with some of the best assistants in college football and coach some of the best college football players and watch them grow both on and off the field as people. I will cherish the relationships with them the most.”

College Bowl Season is upon us.
Penn State has pro talent on the defensive side of the ball.

The NFL season has only two weeks left, and the playoff picture is far from being set in stone. Almost half of the AFC is still in the mix for the post season, and the NFC could have an exciting last couple weekends as well.

Meanwhile, college football is inching closer to New Year's Day, when the nation works its way out of a hangover by spending 20 hours in front of a television watching some of the best teams, and most talented players, lace it up as an amateur for the last time.

If you're a fan of the NFL or NCAA version of football, or both, you know that the only time of year better than now is when the two worlds collide at the NFL Draft.

Will Tim Tebow be successful in the NFL? I personally believe that the odds are against him for many reasons. Here they are:

#1 He’s a lefty- There are about 96 quarterback jobs in the NFL and there are only five lefties in the entire league, Matt Leinhart, Mark Brunell and Chris Simms. None of them are stars let alone, starters on their respective teams.

#2 He’s a Heisman Trophy Winner- Everyone knows about the Heisman Jinx….but for those who don’t know, here’s a brief explanation, they say if you win the Heisman your chances in the NFL are very slim.

 Ohio St. at Michigan

The Buckeyes have already cashed their ticket to the Rose Bowl and are looking to take the Big 10 title outright while everything that could go wrong has gone wrong for Michigan. I believe that Ohio St. is playing their best football right now and Michigan has been playing their worst. Even though rivalry games are usually close, I don’t see this one going that way. Ohio St. 38-14.
