Full name is Xavier Clifford Nady (last name pronounced "NAY-dee")... is married to Meredith with one son, Xavier IV... is a graduate of Salinas (Calif.) High School, where he played baseball and basketball... was named the Northern California "Player of the Year" and first-team all-state as a senior in baseball after batting .619 with 12HR... hit 17HR for the U.S. National Team in the summer of 1996, just three shy of Tino Martinez' 1988 Team USA single-season record... played collegiately at the University of California where he was a three-time Pac-10 selection, a two-time All-American and a two-time member of the USA National Team... was named preseason "Player of the Year" by Baseball America and Collegiate Baseball in 2000 after being named National "Freshman of the Year" by the same two publications in 1998... was a semifinalist for the 2000 Rotary Smith Award, handed out annually to the nation's top college baseball player... was honored as Baseball America's Summer "Player of the Year" in 1999... left California University holding school records in home runs (57), RBI (191) and total bases (479)... his .729 career slugging percentage was the highest in Pac-10 history when he left, topping Mark McGwire's .718 mark at Southern California from 1982-84... played second base and shortstop as a freshman before moving to third base for his final two collegiate campaigns... his father, Xavier, played football at Colorado and his cousin, Scott, played football at Cal...Became the second Yankee whose first or last name begins with an X (also Xavier Hernandez-1994). Biography:

Sam Fuld got a second chance to sign with the Cubs in 2004 after batting .273 in 60 games in his senior season at Stanford. He was originally drafted in the 24th round of the 2003 draft and was a 10th round pick in '04. Fuld was a two-time All-American with the Cardinal and a Baseball America Preseason All-American entering his senior season.

Kosuke earned N.L. All-Star honors in 2008, his first season with Chicago following nine seasons with the Chunichi Dragons in the Japan League ... he hit .305 with a .397 on-base percentage in 1,074 career contests with the Dragons. Fukudome: 2008 Season After nine seasons with the Chunichi Dragons, Kosuke became the first Japanese-born Cub and the first rookie outfielder to start an All-Star Game in franchise history ... he led Chicago with 81 walks in 150 games in his rookie campaign. Drew 55 of his 81 walks in the first half - the 55 free passes were the most for a Cub before the break since Sammy Sosa drew 60 in 2002. The 55 first-half walks were the seventh-highest total for any Cub since 1956. The 81 walks were second-most by a Cubs rookie, surpassed only by Eddie Stankey's 92 free passes in 1943.
